TACOMA, Wash. (AP) — Manslaughter charges are expected Wednesday in Tacoma in the death of a 3-year-old boy who accidentally shot himself with a gun he found under a car seat.

The boy’s mother and her friend who owns the gun turned themselves into police Tuesday and were jailed for an appearance in Pierce County Superior Court.

The News Tribune reports (http://is.gd/dsrvjY ) the man has a concealed weapons permit and no criminal record. He’s reportedly a friend of the mother, who had offered to give them a ride.

The boy, Julio Segura-McIntosh, accidentally shot himself March 14 at a gas station when the man was outside the car at the pump and his mother was inside the convenience store.

The death was the third shooting of child in three weeks in Western Washington.
