BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) — The Buffalo Sabres will continue their playoff push minus defenseman Christian Ehrhoff, who is out indefinitely with a left knee injury.
Coach Lindy Ruff would only say that Ehrhoff will miss a “period of time.” Ruff spoke following practice Wednesday, after Ehrhoff was evaluated by team doctors a day after he was hurt in a 5-1 win at Washington.
Ehrhoff’s injury is a considerable blow to a team in the midst a late-season playoff surge. Buffalo (38-29-10) is 19-5-5 in its past 29 games and now sits alone in eighth place in the Eastern Conference with five games left. The Sabres are off until hosting Pittsburgh on Friday.
Ehrhoff leads the team in averaging 23:03 of ice time, and Buffalo defensemen with 32 points (five goals, 27 assists).
