SEATTLE (AP) — It may be spring, but the National Weather Service has issued a winter storm watch through Thursday for the Olympics and Cascades.
Forecasters expect 1 to 2 feet of new snow, with more at higher elevations such as Mount Baker and less at the passes, although drivers are likely to be affected.
The weather system also could bring high winds Wednesday night through Thursday morning on the Washington coast and northwest interior. Forecasters say winds could briefly reach 40 mph with gusts to 60 mph, which could bring down trees and cause power outages.
For the rest of Washington, forecasters say rain and showers are likely into next week.
