Hamels sharp for Phils, Longoria homers for Rays

CLEARWATER, Fla. (AP) — Evan Longoria snapped Cole Hamels’ run of retiring the first 11 batters in a row with a home run, and the Philadelphia Phillies beat the Tampa bay Rays 2-1 Thursday.

Hector Luna hit a game-ending single in the ninth to give the Phillies a win.

Hamels allowed one run and three hits in 5 2-3 innings. He struck out seven and walked two.

Jeremy Hellickson gave up seven hits and a run in six innings for the Rays.
