ARCADIA, Calif. (AP) — Holladay Road rallied on the far outside to edge Fire With Fire by a neck and win the $71,850 Purple and Gold Purse at Santa Anita on Thursday in a three-horse blanket finish.

Ridden by Garrett Gomez, Holladay Road ran 1 1-8 miles on the turf in 1:46.86 and paid $3.60, $2.60 and $2.40 as the 4-5 favorite. He finished fourth in the $750,000 Santa Anita Handicap earlier this month.

Fire With Fire returned $5.20 and $4.80, while Ireland-bred Barney Rebel was another nose back in third and paid $6.60 to show in his U.S. debut.

The victory, worth $46,800, increased Holladay Road’s career earnings to $323,660, with seven wins in 15 starts. He was claimed for $25,000 at Del Mar last summer by trainer Julio Canani.
