SEATTLE (AP) — The U.S. attorney’s office in Seattle says more than 40 people have been arrested in Western Washington and elsewhere in two drug trafficking investigations.

On Thursday, 23 people were arrested in an operation led by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms. On Wednesday, a Drug Enforcement Administration action arrested 22 people.

Prosecutors say both drug organizations were distributing methamphetamine, heroin and cocaine brought from Mexico through Arizona and California and distributed in King, Pierce, Skagit and Snohomish counties.

U.S. Attorney Jenny Durkan says one group sometimes obtained drugs from the other to meet customer needs.

Officers seized drugs, cash and weapons.
