EVERETT, Wash. (AP) — Burglars have been targeting homes in Marysville while the families are away at funerals.
At least six burglaries this year in or near Marysville have been reported by people returning from funerals who found their homes plundered.
The Daily Herald reports (http://is.gd/77yFN8 ) jewelry, firearms and other property taken in a March 23 burglary at the home of John and Danutsia Burgy was worth more than $400,000. Also stolen was a scrap of the uniform her father wore in a Nazi concentration camp in World War II.
Another home ransacked on March 2 belongs to Gary and Jan Baxter. At the time they were at the funeral for his father, Ken Baxter, a longtime Marysville city councilman and namesake for the city’s senior center.
