MEDFORD, Ore. (AP) — Police have arrested a Medford, Ore., man accused of firing two shots into the air to quiet a pair of neighborhood children playing outside his trailer.

Officers responded to the Shirleen Trailer Park on Wednesday after 911 callers reported the shots.

Police say 42-year-old Danny Way “had become angry with the amount of noise” the 9-year-old and 14-year-old were making and walked outside. According to the police account, the man was about 10 feet away when he fired a .9 mm handgun twice “in their direction, but in the air over their heads.” The children were unhurt.

Way was booked in the Jackson County Jail for investigation of menacing, reckless endangerment, disorderly conduct and unlawful use of a weapon.
