NEW YORK (AP) — Cash for Clunkers rolled through the mud Wednesday, beating Nefertini by 6 3/4 lengths in the $85,500 Heatherten Stakes for fillies and mares at Belmont Park.

The 4-year-old trained by Rick Violette extended her winning streak to three in her stakes debut. Cash for Clunkers fended off early pressure from Indian Burn to dictate the pace in the four-horse field. Alan Garcia was aboard as she ran 1 1/16 miles in 1:43.35.

Cash for Clunkers paid $3.60 and $2.10. Nefertini returned $2.20.

The Underling was third. There was no show wagering.
