SALEM, Ore. (AP) — Gov. John Kitzhaber has selected a new director for Oregon’s tax-collecting agency.

The governor’s office announced Tuesday that James Bucholz (BYOO’-hohlz) will lead the Oregon Department of Revenue. His appointment is subject to confirmation by the state Senate later this month.

Bucholz was previously the administrator of the agency’s property tax division, and a department spokesman says he’s been the interim director since March 1. He replaces Elizabeth Harchenko, who retired a year ago after more than a decade at the helm.
