CRESCENT LAKE, Ore. (AP) — State police say a hostage situation at a southern Oregon cabin has ended with no fatalities.

Following hours of negotiations, a police officer shot a man who allegedly kidnapped his former girlfriend last week in Hermiston.

Police say 28-year-old Alberto Quiroz Martinez is expected to survive.

The woman, 26-year-old Melody Kaye Mickel, was not injured.

Mickel is believed to have willingly gotten into a car last week with her former boyfriend, a registered sex offender who spent more than seven years in prison.

She went missing for several days before authorities found a car linked to the pair at Crescent Lake.
