SAN JOSE, Calif. (AP) — The owners of the San Jose Sharks called the team’s first-round playoff exit unacceptable and say they are confident general manager Doug Wilson will make the changes needed to get the team back to an elite level.

The ownership group of Sharks Sports & Entertainment issued a statement Wednesday expressing disappointment in this season’s results.

San Jose struggled throughout the regular season before clinching a playoff spot in the final week. The Sharks were the seventh seed in the Western Conference and got knocked out in five games in the first round by St. Louis. San Jose had made the conference finals the previous two seasons.
