WASHINGTON (AP) — The Drug Enforcement Administration is investigating how a California college student ended up being forgotten in a holding cell for five days.
A law enforcement official briefed on the investigation said Daniel Chong, one of nine suspects swept up in an April 21 drug raid in San Diego, was never under arrest and should have been released. The official, who spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss the investigation, said DEA investigators are trying to figure why Chong was forgotten while other suspects were released.
Chong, a 24-year-old University of California, San Diego, student told the U-T San Diego (http://bit.ly/JRlSr8).newspaper that he drank his own urine to survive.
