PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. (AP) — Masters champion Bubba Watson has decided to skip The Players Championship to spend time with his family.

It’s a blow to the PGA Tour and its flagship tournament, which has the largest purse in golf and typically attracts the strongest and deepest field of the year. Watson already pulled out of the Wells Fargo Championship this week to be with his family.

He and his wife, Angie, adopted a month-old boy just two weeks before Watson won the Masters.

Watson said on Twitter that it’s all about bonding with his son, and The Players Championship will be just fine without him.
