PASCO, Wash. (AP) — A man accused of failing to return his son to the boy’s mother 18 years ago was arrested in the Tri-Cities for custodial interference.

The 49-year-old Federico Delgado pleaded innocent Tuesday to a charge filed in 1996.

The Tri-City Herald reports (http://is.gd/VGrDxa ) the son in now 20 years old and his whereabouts are unknown.

Delgado was arrested Saturday during a traffic stop.

Court documents say the mother had custody of the son after a divorce. Delgado had permission to take the 2-year-old to Mexico for the summer in 1994, but they didn’t return on time.
