5 men charged in OR woman’s heroin overdose death

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — Five Mexican nationals have been indicted in federal court for the overdose death of a 21-year-old Oregon woman.

U.S. Attorney Amanda Marshall announced the indictments on Friday, charging the five men with distribution of heroin that resulted in death.

Laurin Putnam died in her house on April 16 in Keizer, Ore. Following her death, a task force was deployed in several counties in Oregon and Washington seizing over four pounds of heroin, additional quantities of methamphetamine and cocaine, two guns, and over $20,000 in US Currency.

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement has put a hold on the five men, whose ages range from 22 to 34.
