RENTON, Wash. (AP) — Tarvaris Jackson says he’s up for the challenge of competing for the starting quarterback job for the Seattle Seahawks.

Seattle added free agent Matt Flynn from Green Bay and selected Wisconsin quarterback Russell Wilson in the third round of last weekend’s NFL draft.

Jackson was handed the starting job a year ago after a truncated offseason following the lockout and he is familiar with offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell, who also came over from Minnesota. He expected Seattle to add to the roster at the quarterback position and is ready to compete for the job.

Jackson said he is recovered from a torn pectoral that limited him last year.
