BOSTON (AP) — Boston Celtics guard Ray Allen is expected to return for Game 3 of their first-round playoff series against the Atlanta Hawks.

Boston coach Doc Rivers made the announcement about an hour before tip-off Friday night.

Rivers said Allen, who has not played since April 10 because of bone spurs in his right ankle, told the team he was ready after the morning shootaround.

The series is tied 1-1 with the next two games in Boston.

Atlanta will be without leading scorer Josh Smith, who will be sidelined with a sprained left knee he suffered in Game 2.
