Winter Memories and Boisterous win Belmont stakes

NEW YORK (AP) — Winter Memories won the Beaugay for fillies and mares, and Boisterous took the Fort Marcy as favorites captured the $150,000 grass stakes at Belmont Park on Saturday.

Winter Memories rallied to beat Gitchee Goomie by 2 1/4 lengths with Eddie Castro aboard for trainer James Toner. The 4-year-old mare ran the 1 1-16 miles in 1:43.87, paying $3.90 as the 4-5 choice.

Boisterous, the 6-5 favorite, defeated Desert Blanc by one length. Alan Garcia rode for Hall of Fame trainer Shug McGaughey as the 5-year-old was timed in 1:44.89 for the same distance. He paid $4.60 to win.
