ASHLAND, Ore. (AP) — Oregon State Police say a 75-year-old Vancouver, Wash., woman was seriously hurt and her small dog was killed on Interstate 5 in southern Oregon when her car collided with a parked tractor-trailer rig on the highway shoulder.
Senior Trooper Tom Harrison said Carol Dunsmore was northbound Monday near the Siskiyou summit when her car drifted from the left lane toward the right shoulder and crashed into a corner of the big rig. The truck driver was unhurt.
Lt. Gregg Hastings says the woman reportedly fell asleep.
She was flown to Rogue Valley Medical Center.
The freeway’s northbound lanes were closed for about 20 minutes.
