MEDFORD, Ore. (AP) — A 21-year-old Saudi Arabian has pleaded guilty to charges he eluded police and rammed two Ashland police cars.
The Ashland Daily Tidings (http://bit.ly/JQbyKs) reports that the defense attorney for Yazeed Mohammed Abunayyan told the court his client’s bizarre behavior in February was caused by a change in medication for mental illness.
Abunayyan came to the U.S. to study English and was in Ashland visiting a cousin, who has said Abunayyan suffers from schizophrenia.
Jackson County Circuit Judge Tim Barnack sentenced Abunayyan to time served, a $1,000 fine and 18 months of probation.
