NEW YORK (AP) — Reigning Olympic champion Dayron Robles of Cuba will compete in the 110-meter hurdles at the Adidas Grand Prix meet next month.

The June 9 race will be the first performance in New York for the world record-holder.

This is shaping up to be a formidable competition, too, as the 25-year-old Robles steps up to the line against Americans Jason Richardson, David Oliver and Aries Merritt, along with up-and-comer Hansle Parchment of Jamaica.

It could very well provide a glimpse of what’s in store at the London Games as well. Although, Liu Xiang of China won’t be lining up in New York. Liu set the meet record of 12.92 seconds in 2007, a mark that could be in jeopardy given this talent-rich field.
