EUGENE, Ore. (AP) — A 77-year-old man was handcuffed and taken to jail after he pleaded guilty in Lane County Circuit Court to growing marijuana on his property near Cottage Grove.

The Register-Guard reports (http://is.gd/zp0mxt ) Jerry Fruichantie was sentenced to 15 days in jail as part of an agreement with prosecutors to plead guilty to a felony charge.

Deputies seized more than 400 plants and $20,000 cash in a raid last summer on his property.

In January, Fruichantie’s son was shot and killed in what detectives suspect was a drug-related robbery. No one has been arrested in that case.
