FLORHAM PARK, N.J. (AP) — Tim Tebow says he has worked exclusively at quarterback as Mark Sanchez’s backup during the early portion of the New York Jets’ offseason program, and is “just trying to learn the offense.”
Coach Rex Ryan and offensive coordinator Tony Sparano have said Tebow, acquired from Denver in March, could have extensive playing time for the Jets in various roles, including running the team’s wildcat-style package. Tebow says Thursday that he hasn’t been studying any other position — fullback or tight end — and adds that “they haven’t told me anything” as far as whether he would play on special teams. The Jets will likely start installing those plans later in the offseason program.
Tebow adds that he and Sanchez have a “great” relationship on and off the field.
