MILWAUKIE, Ore. (AP) — Authorities say an 89-year-old driver crashed his car into a Milwaukie, Ore., apartment living room, pushing a 97-year-old man in a recliner across the room.

Clackamas County sheriff’s Sgt. Adam Phillips says the 97-year-old apartment resident, Donald Brownrigg, complained only of minor pain. A relative took him to a hospital.

The sergeant says the driver, Owen Gotchall, said he had been trying to park Thursday but hit the gas instead of the brake. He was unhurt. He lives in the same building.

Deputies say Gotchall was cooperative and distraught about the crash. Officers requested a driver re-evaluation.

Milwaukie is south of Portland.
