License fraud is a real problem
The economy in Clark County must be really booming. Out of curiosity, after reading the two letters concerning the licensing issue, I drove through the Salmon Creek and 99th Street Park & Rides in the morning. My count identified 11 Oregon-licensed autos parked in the Salmon Creek lot and 13 in the 99th Street lot. Is that reasonable that we have that many new residents in the last 30 days?
I also drove through the student reserved lot at Skyview High School and counted five autos with Oregon plates. Sorry to see there were no signs identifying the business owners that have been hiring our high school students.
Now, how do we correct this problem to level the playing field and assist in balancing the future state budgets?
• Inform residents of the requirements for licensing vehicles to the primary residence.
• Require business vehicles to be clearly marked with the business name on vehicle.
• More stringent enforcement of licensing requirements.
• Increase penalties for violators.
• Report known violators at licensefraud@wsp.wa.gov or 360-449-7975.
