Letter: Litter degrades our beautiful parks

The Columbian
Published: May 15, 2012, 5:00pm

Twice this past weekend I walked along the path at Wintler Park early in the morning. Both times I was appalled by the amount of garbage and broken glass strewn over the beach, the sidewalk and in the parking lot.

Message to Vancouver citizens: Clean up after yourselves. I was embarrassed for you. Don’t complain about high taxes and then make someone clean up after you.

Message to the city of Vancouver: Make it a fee-use park all the time by installing voluntary pay stations. Use the revenue to pay cleanup costs and to locate additional garbage receptacles at the park.
