Meyer puts onus on team leaders this summer

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — There were very few surprises on Wednesday when Ohio State coach Urban Meyer disclosed the team’s official two-deep roster through spring workouts.

Yet he provided a cold shot of reality when he said the 2012 season rides on what kind of a job team leaders do between now and preseason practice beginning in August.

Meyer said, for example, if quarterbacks Braxton Miller and Kenny Guiton are able to develop a passing game during informal workouts, the Buckeyes would be fine. If not, Meyer said, there was “no chance” for a successful season.

The Buckeyes are trying to turn things around after losing their last four games a year ago to finish 6-7. And they’ll have to improve without the incentive of a bowl game.
