Former Ridgefield city clerk and administrative director Kay Kammer began work Monday as Battle Ground’s new city clerk.

Kammer succeeds Claire Lider, who left in December after six years with the city. Kammer spent more than 10 years with Ridgefield.

Kammer’s responsibilities with Battle Ground will be to act as the public records officer and serve as custodian for official city records and public documents. The position oversees the human resources department and, as court administrator, the Battle Ground Municipal Court.

Recruiting for the vacancy left by Kammer’s departure will likely begin in the next two weeks, Ridgefield interim City Manager Paul Lewis said.

Lewis has served as interim city manager for Ridgefield since April. He said recruiting for the city manager position would likely begin this week and take three to four months. Ridgefield is contracting with consulting firm Prothman for its city manager search, Lewis said.
