SHORELINE, Wash. (AP) — King County has filed murder and attempted murder charges against a 20-year-old man suspected in a shooting earlier this week in Shoreline that killed a 17-year-old girl and critically wounded an 18-year-old man.

The King County sheriff’s office identified the suspect Friday as Joseph D. Cooley. He is not in custody and officials told KOMO-TV they are working tirelessly to find and arrest him.

The shooting happened Wednesday in an apartment complex parking lot.

The victims called for help as they were driving to a hospital. They were met by deputies who rushed them to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. The 17-year-old died.

Detectives say the shooting was not random or part of a gang conflict. They say it appears jealousy played a role in an argument that led to the shooting.
