SUNRIVER, Ore. (AP) — A Deschutes County sheriff’s captain who has been serving as interim police chief for the central Oregon city of Sunriver has been tapped to handle the job permanently.
KTVZ reports (http://is.gd/z5o3Jp) that the Sunriver Service District Managing Board made the pick Friday, choosing Marc Mills over the other finalist, Kettle Falls, Wash., Chief Scott Sterland.
Mills has been on loan from the sheriff’s office since February, when he stepped in after former chief Michael Kennedy was dismissed. The ex-chief is still fighting that move.
