MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — The attorney for the wife of former Minnesota Vikings player Joe Senser says his client didn’t get a fair trial in a fatal hit-and-run.
Defense attorney Eric Nelson argues that the guilty verdicts against Amy Senser should be thrown out.
The St. Paul Pioneer Press reports (http://bit.ly/JY3JqT) that Nelson filed the motion Friday. He argues there wasn’t enough evidence to support the jury’s verdict that Senser was guilty of criminal vehicular homicide.
The jury earlier this month found Senser guilty of two felony counts of criminal vehicular homicide in the Aug. 23 death of Anousone Phanthavong (ah-NOO’-sahn PAN’-tah-wong). The 38-year-old was trying to fill his vehicle with gas when he was hit on a Minneapolis freeway exit ramp.
Senser faces up to four years in prison when sentenced July 9.
