MILWAUKEE (AP) — The Milwaukee Brewers selected the contract of left-handed reliever Juan Perez from Triple-A Nashville before Saturday’s game with the Minnesota Twins.
Right-handed reliever Vinnie Chulk was designated for assignment to make room for Perez.
Perez went 1-0 with a 0.84 ERA in 10 relief appearances for the Sounds this season.
“We felt like we needed to help the bullpen,” Brewers manager Ron Roenicke said. “Vinnie had pitched three days in a row. He wasn’t going to be able to pitch today. We’re getting in what we feel is a true left-hander to get out lefties.”
Chulk, who gave up four earned runs in an inning on Friday night, had a 10.00 ERA in nine innings.
