ST HELENS, Ore. (AP) — A man accused of killing a visiting mental health caseworker remained in the intensive care unit of a Portland hospital on Monday.

St. Helens Police Chief Steve Salle (sah-LEE’) says 30-year-old Brent Redd suffered non-life-threatening knife wounds to his neck Sunday, when he was accused of stabbing to death Columbia Community Mental Health worker Jennifer Warren.

Salle says Redd ran when approached by a police officer on Sunday but was detained after a short foot chase.

Redd has been under the jurisdiction of the Oregon Psychiatric Security Review Board after he pleaded guilty except for insanity in 2007 for attempted murder of a family member.
