WACO, Texas (AP) — A jury has been seated in the federal trial of a soldier accused of planning to bomb Ford Hood troops.

Pfc. Naser Jason Abdo wore a mask covering his nose and mouth all day Monday during the jury selection in a Texas courtroom.

He’s been accused of biting through his lip and spitting blood on authorities escorting him after a court hearing last month.

His defense attorney, Zachary Boyd, asked potential jurors earlier Monday if they had a problem with Abdo’s mask. Nobody raised a hand.

Authorities have declined to comment on why Abdo was wearing a mask.

Opening statements are scheduled to start Tuesday.

Abdo is accused of planning to bomb a Killeen restaurant filled with Fort Hood soldiers and shoot any survivors last summer.
