TROUTDALE, Ore. (AP) — Talks between the Reynolds School District and teachers union have ended without an agreement, and no new mediation sessions are scheduled until Wednesday.

The Reynolds Education Association started picketing at schools at 6 a.m.

The district and the union have disagreed over salary and working conditions.

Union president Joyce Rosenau told reporters that the district backed away from what had appeared to be progress during the all-night negotiations.

The district had already canceled classes for Monday because of the strike threat. The district east of Portland has three weeks of classes remaining in the school year.

Tutors will be available for seniors who need to complete graduation requirement.
