SEATTLE (AP) — The state Transportation Department has torpedoed a proposal for floating billboards on Lake Washington in Seattle.
The department says trying to grab the attention of floating bridge drivers would violate the law that governs billboards along freeways — the 1971 Scenic Vistas Act.
KING-TV reports (http://is.gd/X8lvUE) the floating billboards were dreamed up by advertising executive Darren Bruce.
He says he may try to float his billboards on Lake Union in Seattle or along a Puget Sound beach.
