YAKIMA, Wash. (AP) — A hearing is under way in Yakima for East Valley High School gym teacher Michele Taylor who is appealing a one-year suspension of her teaching certificate.

It was suspended after she was accused of having sex with a student in 2009 and inappropriately sending hundreds of text messages to another boy.

Taylor was acquitted, but the state says there’s reason for the suspension.

KIMA reports (http://is.gd/L6lMET) Taylor is still being paid during appeals process.
