Goncharuk, Mueller place second at NWAACC track

A couple of second-place finishes highlighted the Clark College results from the NWAACC Championships at Spokane.

In event finals held Monday, Fort Vancouver grad Bogdan Goncharuk placed second in the pole vault with a personal best 14 feet, 10 3/4 inches. Clark teammate and Evergreen grad Jeffery Crumbaker was seventh (13-3).

Mountain View grad Katarina Mueller was second in the 10,000-meter run with a time of 38 minutes 25.1 seconds. Heritage grad Angela Gula was fourth in 40:42.4.

In the men’s 10,000, Nathan Richards was seventh (35:00.3).

Union grad Leina Buchanan tied for fifth in the high jump at 4-8 3/4 .

Camas grad Chip Sudbeck was eighth in the hammer (133-4).

Vancouver Christian grad Tonja Cole was eighth in the pole vault (8-9 3/4 ).

The two day meet concluded Tuesday with the Clark men finishing seventh out of 11 in the team standings. The Clark women placed ninth out of 10.

In Tuesday finals, Tyson Bennett placed fourth in the high jump at 6-2.

Mueller was fourth in the 5,000 in 18:51.92, and Columbia River grad Holly Meler was sixth in the 1,500 in 5:05.34.
