COOS BAY, Ore. (AP) — The Coos Bay, Ore., Library was evacuated and closed for the day after the second fire in the past week was found in a public restroom at the back of the building.
Wednesday’s fire caused extensive smoke damage to the restroom and minor smoke damage throughout the library.
The World newspaper reports (http://is.gd/5R9H85 ) that 20 firefighters responded, extinguishing the mid-day fire in less than five minutes.
The fire was set using the sanitary paper that covers a toilet seat. Fire Chief Stan Gibson says last week’s restroom fire involved toilet paper. Employees found it and extinguished it with no damage.
