Sheriff: Ore. man on trial dies of gunshot wound

COQUILLE, Ore. (AP) — The Coos County sheriff’s office says a 29-year-old Coos Bay, Ore., man on trial on multiple counts of sex abuse has died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

The World newspaper reports (http://is.gd/xAqWDQ ) that the man died Wednesday.

The sheriff’s office says the man shot himself with a 12-gauge shotgun and his body was found near a creek. The newspaper says no note was found.

The man on trial for nine counts of second-degree sex abuse was accused of sexual involvement with a 14-year-old girl.
