EUGENE, Ore. (AP) — The Oregon State Police trooper arrested for causing a bomb scare in Mount Angel has resigned.

Joseph Conklin had been on paid leave since the incident in January. He pleaded guilty last week to resisting arrest as part of a plea deal in which his police certification was revoked. He was sentenced to five years of probation.

The 29-year-old had worked more than three years with state police in Florence.

The Register-Guard reports (http://is.gd/09YkQB ) Conklin’s probation requires him to continue mental health treatment and stay away from alcohol and weapons.
