Eugene assault suspect collapses in police custody

EUGENE, Ore. (AP) — An assault suspect collapsed and had trouble breathing after his arrest at a Eugene restaurant.

Police gave the 55-year-old CPR and an ambulance took him to a Springfield hospital.

The Register-Guard reports (http://is.gd/I2SdTg ) the man struck an employee of a Taco Time restaurant Thursday afternoon when she made a call because he refused to leave. Witnesses say he had been yelling curse words.

Other employees held the man until police arrived. Police said he was handcuffed and guided to the ground without any significant struggle.
