WOODLAND, Mich. (AP) — Ex-major league outfielder Chad Curtis has been charged with criminal sexual conduct on accusations he inappropriately touched two students at a Michigan high school.

Barry County Prosecutor Tom Evans says the charges are based on complaints from two teenage girls. Curtis was volunteering at Lakewood High School in Woodland, about 50 miles southeast of Grand Rapids.

The 43-year-old Lake Odessa resident was in line to become the school’s football coach before the accusations emerged.

Curtis was arraigned Thursday in Barry County District Court. A judge set bond at $250,000, and Curtis was freed after posting 10 percent in cash.

Defense lawyer David Dodge says Curtis denies any criminal wrongdoing.

Curtis played for the then-California Angels, Detroit Tigers, Los Angeles Dodgers, Cleveland Indians, New York Yankees and Texas Rangers in 1992-2001.
