SALEM, Ore. (AP) — The DMV and most other state offices in Oregon will be closed for a four-day weekend.

Friday is an unpaid day off for state workers and Monday is Memorial Day.

Essential services like prisons, police and the state hospital will remain open. Oregon University System workers will be on the job Friday.

The Legislature required most state workers to take unpaid furlough days to help balance Oregon’s two-year budget.
