CHICAGO (AP) — White Sox starter John Danks is headed to the 15-day disabled list because of soreness in his left shoulder.

Chicago manager Robin Ventura says Jose Quintana will be called up from the minors and start Friday in his place against AL Central leader Cleveland. Neither Ventura nor Danks believes the injury is serious, and Danks thinks he’ll be ready to rejoin the rotation after June 4.

Danks says he noticed the problem the day after his start against the Cubs on Saturday, when he threw 83 pitches over 6 1-3 scoreless innings. He had an MRI on Thursday, and he says he was ready to start against the Indians. But the team is taking a cautious approach.
