ASHLAND, Ore. (AP) — The Ashland City Council is considering a three-strikes-and-you’re-out downtown exclusion zone.
If approved at the June meeting, people who commit three or more offenses in a six-month period could be banned from downtown for three months, and could be arrested for trespassing if they return.
The Ashland Daily Tidings reports (http://is.gd/fmZL4N ) that the offenses include prohibited camping, unnecessary noise, drinking alcohol in public, public urination, assault and harassment.
Ashland police estimate that about a dozen people per year could be affected by the proposal.
