SEATTLE (AP) — Seattle Central Community College has joined a growing number of colleges in Washington state that have pledged to support vets returning to school.

The college last week signed a memorandum of understanding with the state Department of Veterans Affairs and other agencies to reach out to veterans.

The Seattle Times reports (http://bit.ly/JwUhvs ) that 23 colleges have now signed on to the Partners for Veterans Supportive Campuses.

Thousands of military veterans are coming home, and many of them are looking to get a college education.

Seattle Central has sponsored several training sessions to help faculty and administrators understand how student veterans diff from the average college students.
