SEATTLE (AP) — Washington has reported a secondary NCAA rules violation involving assistant football coach Tosh Lupoi and confirmed sanctions imposed on Lupoi by the school.

A spokesman for the Huskies athletic department confirmed the violation on Thursday. It occurred when Lupoi publicized the visit of a football recruit when he confirmed information about the recruit to Washington’s student fan section during a men’s basketball game. The recruit did not commit to Washington.

The school says it limited Lupoi’s recruiting evaluations during the spring evaluation period, which concluded Thursday.

Lupoi was hired away from California to be the Huskies’ new defensive line coach and defensive run game coordinator. Lupoi is regarded as one of the top recruiters on the West Coast.
