MONACO (AP) — Ethiopian distance runner Ezkyas Sisay has been banned for two years after testing positive for EPO at last year’s New York City Marathon.

The IAAF and U.S. Anti-Doping Agency say Sisay admitted using the banned blood-boosting drug and accepted the suspension.

The 24-year-old athlete tested positive after finishing ninth in the New York race on Nov. 6, 2011.

His ban starts retroactively from the date of the test. His New York finish and all other results since then have been annulled.
